Modern GP consultations in a changing NHS

The RCGP has stated that 10-minute GP appointments are unfit for purpose as it is increasingly rare for a patient to present with just a single health condition. In this blog post, Dr Jane Wilcock discusses how consultations need to adapt to changing times. GPs work in complex clinical environments. Patients have repeated, direct access to their general practice and rate our services highly. We provide frontline, un-triaged, patient-focused clinical services, in which we successfully diagnose, triage, manage and optimise patients’ health. There is no other profession in which such a variety of illness and social conditions can be seen.
