What are the NICE guidelines for endometriosis?

Following new research from the BBC on the devastating impact of endometriosis on women, Endometriosis UK is calling on the Government to ensure that recent NICE guidance is properly implemented across the UK. Dr Jessica Garner looks at what the guidance means for general practice.

The first specific guidance on endometriosis was published by NICE in 2017 and aims to raise awareness of the symptoms of endometriosis, and to provide clear advice on what action to take when women with signs and symptoms first present in healthcare settings. It also provides advice on the range of treatments available. Endometriosis is a common, and potentially debilitating disease.
