New ulcerative colitis treatment to be rolled out on NHS

More than 25,000 people with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis in England are set to benefit from a new targeted treatment.

More than 25,000 people with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis in England are set to benefit from a new targeted treatment. NICE has recommended etrasimod (Velsipity) as a treatment option for people aged 16 and over who have had an inadequate response, lost response or were intolerant to either conventional therapy or biological treatment. The once-a-day tablet has been shown to improve symptoms by reducing inflammation in the colon by helping to control the level of immune cells in the blood.
