The Royal College of GPs says it is “sad and troubling” that complaints about primary care have hit a record high. Indeed, the total number of written complaints regarding NHS care hit 229,458 in 2022-23, an increase of 3,888 (1.7%) from 2021-22. GPs are ‘fall guys’ for government failings In primary care alone (including general practice and dental services) there were 125,584 complaints in 2022-23. This is up from 120,064 in 2021-22 – an increase of 4.6%. Professor Kamila Hawthorne, Chair of the RCGP says the College is “not surprised” that a substantial number of complaints were received this year,
