This white paper provides an overview of the presentation of common dermatological conditions in people with skin of colour, as well as some which are unique to such patients.

Clinicians are aware that inflammatory skin conditions present with erythema on affected areas of skin. However, when the same inflammatory process occurs in patients with skin of colour, such as individuals of African or Asian descent, these changes can be more difficult to see in pigmented skin. In the past, teaching on the cutaneous changes associated with skin diseases in people with skin of colour has been largely ignored.
