Motor neuron disease

Motor neuron disease (MND) is a devastating disease with a signifcant morbidity and shortened life expectancy. The needs of patients with MND are complex and hence a range of health professionals may be involved in their care, including GPs, geriatricians, chest physicians and palliative care physicians. This article aims to educate the non-neurologist about the clinical features of the disease, current concepts about its pathogenesis, prognosis and treatment strategies.
