A new app has been launched that allows user to monitor their blood sugar levels through their smartphone.
The app, called Dario, works when the user plugs their blood strip into the headset of their phone. The app then analyses the glucose levels in their blood and logs their meal and carb count – vital pieces of information for those who live with diabetes.
As well as taking readings, Dario also notifies the user of any life-threatening changes as well as text messaging the user’s loved ones a health status and the GPS location of the user.
The app is available on IOS and for Android, and can be used for type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
More than 422 million people live with diabetes, of which nearly half – 43% – will die as a result of the condition before they reach 70 years of age.
