Higher risk of death for diabetes patients previously hospitalised for heart failure

First published June 2006, updated March 2022   People with type 2 diabetes and heart disease who experience non-fatal cardiovascular events are at increased risk of cardiovascular-related death, and those previously hospitalised for heart failure are at highest risk, according to new analysis of data from the Examination of Cardiovascular Outcomes with Alogliptin versus Standard of Care (EXAMINE) trial.
